Overlack AG has announced that it is to take over the Stuttgart-based industrial chemical distributor, K.H. Klink Chemierohstoffe GmbH (Klink Group). The deal is the first since Overlack obtained mezzanine financing from the Hannover Finanz Group to help fund its expansion plans.

The Klink Group has sales offices in Germany and Switzerland as well as a bulk storage tank facility on the River Rhine near Ludwigshafen. The facility has more than 38 tanks with capacities between 30 and 1,500 cubic metres as well as a ship terminal and a rail siding. The Group operates in Germany, Austria, Scandinavia and the Benelux - and thus lies at the centre of the Overlack network which already comprises 35 locations in 16 countries across Europe, with a particular focus on the CEE region.

Peter Overlack, spokesman of the board of management at Overlack AG commneted, “We have always emphasised that in addition to expanding our range of speciality chemicals, we would continue to strengthen the commodities sector. With the acquisition of Klink we will be able to optimise our purchasing and logistics - to the benefit of both Klink and Overlack customers.”

The Klink group had an annual turnover of EUR 69 million in 2014 and supplies raw materials to customers in the chemical, adhesives & sealants, paints & coatings, lubricants, plastics, and pharmaceutical industries. Details of the transaction have not been disclosed. The German Federal Cartel Office has already given its approval for the deal.
