In terms of safety performance NACD member compabies out-performed non-member companies in the Chemical and Allied Merchant Wholesale Industry (NAICS 42469) and were nearly twice as good as all manufacturing combined, based on the most current data available. The report showed a reduction in Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable cases to 549, from 594 the previous year, demonstrating the industry’s continued commitment to safety.

“In 2013, our members demonstrated a continued commitment to the safety and security of their employees and surrounding communities through Responsible Distribution while proving they can grow the economy and create jobs. This year's results show chemical distributors are determined to prosper while remaining steadfast in their commitment to improving safety,” said NACD President Eric R. Byer.

NACD members operate in all 50 US states through over 1,800 facilities and make a delivery every 7.3 seconds. The average value of an individual shipment amounted to $7,270, maintaining the trend of increased shipment value over the last decade. Members have reduced their overall number of shipments while carrying more tonnage per shipment, bundling them to reduce cost and lower their environmental impact.

The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) also welcomed 14 new members and affiliates to its ranks over the past year, boosting the association's representation to nearly 450 companies.
